Personal Description

Ethan Cushing knew he wanted to be a filmmaker during his freshman year of college at Wake Forest University. It was an internship at the The Late Show with David Letterman that cemented his love of the entertainment industry. 800 students applied to this program, 24 were asked for an interview, and in the end Ethan and 11 other college students were given the opportunity to work in New York for the Letterman Show the summer of 2003. While working as the production intern, Ethan worked closely with the assistant director. During the taping of the show Ethan sat in the control room observing the director run the show as he was on call to retrieve clips or packages from old shows. After the show was taped and the environment became slightly less hectic, Ethan was able to pick the director’s brain and inquire about his techniques and choices he made on that day’s show. Working at Letterman was an invaluable experience and gave him a real world perspective on how an Emmy Award winning show is put together. Similarly, having the unparalleled opportunity to be taught and recommended for the Marion Knott Scholarship by acclaimed director John Badham is a privilege and an honor. As a Second Year Graduate Production student at Chapman University in the directing track, Ethan has worked on a variety of student shoots in many different capacities ranging from grip to director. Ethan is excited about being chosen by Chapman to direct an award winning script which is now in post production, about the filmmaking process, and about life in general.
